TENERIFE
One and Two Week Holidays

HOTEL TIGAIGA****  in Puerto De La Cruz

SpainTenerife

Amazing solidified lava sculptures acknowledge the volcanic origins of this temperate island with its warm and mainly dry climate. Dominated by the highest mountain in Spain, Mount Teide presides over forested slopes of Canarian pine, chestnut and almond trees.

Northern Tenerife’s vibrant Spanish atmosphere is reflected in the traditional architecture and bustling towns.

TENERIFE is a volcanic island and at the LAS CANADAS NATIONAL PARK you can see the amazing shapes the solidified lava has made. MOUNT TEIDE presides over the landscape here and can often be glimpsed as you make your way through the heavily forested slopes covered with fire-resistant Canarian pine, chestnut, almond and fruit trees and many others.

The old capital LA LAGUNA and the town of LA OROTAVA, both easy taxi rides from Puerto de la Cruz, hold some beautiful examples of traditional architecture. The capital, SANTA CRUZ, is also rich in architecture and has museums housing art treasures and historical artefacts of the Canarians. There is a lively flea market on Sundays.

PUERTO DE LA CRUZ is bordered to the north by the Atlantic Ocean and to the south by verdant parks and banana plantations. The main shopping area of the town is largely pedestrianised and it is easy to roam about admiring the buildings, visiting the museums, browsing through the shops or relaxing at one of the many pavement cafés. A walk down into town through TAORO PARK, which surrounds the hotel, is a lovely way to reach the centre and takes about 20 minutes. The paths and flights of steps take you over waterfalls and ponds, past a variety of trees, palms, shrubs and flowers. Carnival time is 4 – 10 February 2008.

TRANSFERS/REPRESENTATIVE
We have arranged VIP taxi transfers from Tenerife South Airport, taking about 55 minutes. Transfers from the North Airport take about 20 minutes. Our local Representative will visit you at the hotel twice a week and do everything possible to make your stay an enjoyable one.

TOURS
There are many tours available including visits to other Canary Islands either by boat or air. It is always interesting to explore beyond your immediate area and our Representative will be pleased to make arrangements for you to see something of the beautiful and rugged interior, as well as the rest of the island. Car hire can be arranged locally.

WEATHER

Generally speaking the climate is mild, moderate and soft throughout the year with little rainfall. It is never too hot or too cold and average temperatures range from 18ºC in January to 25ºC in August.
