Spring is a special time in Mallorca . Almond blossom blankets the countryside early in the year, as well as an abundance of wild flowers and normally from March a huge number of migrating birds can be seen.
CALA SANT VICENÇ is a small village on the north coast at the head of four sandy coves and beaches. Approached from the main road by a 4 km country road passing farms and orchards, this is true Mallorca – a world apart from the busy south.
Equidistant from CALA SANT VICENÇ is the old town of POLLENÇA to the west with its colourful Sunday market, and the huge scenic bay of PUERTO DE POLLENÇA to the east with its marina, restaurants, shops, pine-clad coastal walk and attractive café square. From here the rugged scenery of the FORMENTOR PENINSULA is breathtaking.
Further afield PALMA, the capital, has a long history as a major Mediterranean port. The old city is beautifully situated in the middle of the broad sweep of Palma Bay and is a wonderful area for a leisurely stroll with its huge 13th Century Gothic Cathedral, park and lake, overlooked from above by the 14th Century Belver Castle. For dramatic scenery the west coast drive through SOLLER, DEYA and VALLDEMOSA is a must.
