We start in BARCELONA where every visitor is taken aback by the beauty and artistic heritage of this lovely city. Tree-lined boulevards lead you to Romanesque, Gothic and Modernist/Art Nouveau buildings, galleries, parks and museums, including the PICASSO MUSEUM. The standard of food and friendly Catalan service in the countless Tapas bars and restaurants would be hard to beat and whilst here you will also visit the Benedictine sanctuary at nearby MONTSERRAT, a spectacular mountain range that has been worn by the elements into fantastic shapes.

The countryside north of Barcelona is particularly enchanting and has picturesque stone villages perched alongside rivers, old volcano cones, covered in pine, fir and deciduous trees and the rocky COSTA BRAVA coast, where it is still possible to find untouched coves and swim in sparkling seas. Whilst based at a lovely hotel overlooking its own pretty, sandy bay, you will visit the villages of Catalonia, the magnificent MARIMURTRA BOTANICAL GARDEN, atmospheric GIRONA and the unbelievably surreal DALI THEATRE MUSEUM in FIGUERES.
