On arrival in DAR ES SALAAM you will be met by our Agents and continue by internal flight to ARUSHA, dominated by the awe-inspiring MOUNT KILIMANJARO. Here you will spend your first night at MOUNTAIN VILLAGE LODGE**. This is a perfect place to start your tour with its unique African style and views over LAKE DULUTI.
You will then spend 2 nights at TARANGIRE TREETOPS in a private game reserve bordering Tarangire National Park and the Maasai Steppe, with views to Lake Manyara and the Rift Valley wall. Teeming with wildlife, the park is home to huge herds of elephants, zebra and lions, together with the prolific birds that congregate along the river. Tarangire Treetops has lavishly furnished suites perched high up in age-old Baobab and Marula trees. This lodge has a swimming pool and overlooks a waterhole. Natural materials are blended with contemporary 'Africana' decor to provide guests with a unique and most memorable experience.
From here you will drive to Gibbs Farm ***, an oasis nestling against the slopes of the NGORONGORO HIGHLANDS and surrounded by lush tropical gardens with sweeping views of the valley and coffee plantations below. During your 2 night stay in beautifully renovated cottages you can enjoy the abundant birdlife and other activities in this idyllic coffee estate. This is the land of the MAASAI tribes, their elders in bright red clothes with spears, the women bedecked with beaded jewellery and the young male warriors proudly displaying their painted faces.
The world-famous NGORONGORO CRATER with its 600 metre walls and crater area of 100 square miles, houses an enormous concentration of wildlife and birds. Rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, baboon, buffalo, hartebeest, wildebeest (gnus), hippo, zebra, jackal, hyena, gazelle, warthog and many birds live here. You will stay for 2 nights at the Serena Ngorongoro Lodge *** perched on the rim of the crater with stunning views.
You will visit Olduvai Gorge known as the ‘cradle of mankind’ where many fossils have been found, including a skull believed to be 1.7 million years old, on the way to the SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK. With over 6000 square miles of plains the Serengeti has one of the largest concentrations of bird and wildlife in the world. The wooded areas and rocky outcrops of ‘Simba’ country are home to many prides of lioneopards, cheetah, columns of wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, hippos, giraffe, elephants and many more.
The Serengeti MIGRATION CAMP, where you will stay for 3 nights, is hidden among the rocky outcrops of the vast Northern Plains and exudes the decadence reminiscent of 'old Africa'. You will stay in lavish tents with en suite facilities and verandah, and there is a swimming pool. Whilst staying here you will have an opportunity to take an optional hot air balloon safari over the SERENGETI.
You will then fly to ZANZIBAR, an exotic island of history, romance and mystery, where Arabia meets Africa. You will see Arabian dhows sailing by, men in long white robes, colourful markets and beautiful old buildings in Stone Town in danger of crumbling away.
You will stay for 3 nights at kilindi***** in luxurious accommodation with private plunge pools, magnificent 500m beach, lush tropical gardens, indoor and outdoor dining, all meals and drinks included, spa and stunning infinity pool with breathtaking Indian Ocean views.
After your stay on the coast, you will drive to STONE TOWN for a city tour and lunch. Accommodation for 1 night will be at the Zanzibar Serena *** on the waterfront in Stone Town. On the following morning you will return to Dar Es Salaam to connect with your flight back to the UK.
