On arrival in Johannesburg you will then drive to the MPUMALANGA HIGHLANDS and the delightful small town of Dullstroom, for a stay of one night at Critchley Hackle ***. Situated beside its own trout lake and surrounded by quiet, beautiful gardens, this is an ideal place to relax before continuing on your tour. Dullstroom is within easy walking distance of the hotel with a few shops, cafés and restaurants.
En route to the KRUGER NATIONAL PARK you will drive through stunning scenery taking you to the BLYDE RIVER CANYON. One of South Africa’s most impressive natural features, the canyon is nearly 30km long and the views in all directions are spectacular. Continue to BOURKE'S LOCH POTHOLES where you will have lunch. These amazing cylindrical holes have been carved into the rock by whirlpools created at the confluence of the Blyde and Treuer Rivers.
The Kruger National Park is world famous for its size, history and programme of conservation. The vast game lands are home to prolific animal, bird and plant life. Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and black rhino (the Big Five) are all there to be seen as well as cheetahs, giraffe, hippo and many more. In peaceful bush surroundings you will stay 100m outside the park at the Protea Kruger Gate **** for 2 nights.
Travelling further south through the park with game viewing on the way, your next stop will be at Pestana Kruger Lodge**** for 3 nights. The Lodge is in a beautiful location with magnificent views of the CROCODILE RIVER bordering Kruger National Park. A large viewing deck is the ideal place to enjoy an evening sundowner while watching the sunset over the park.
The ROYAL KINGDON 0F SWAZILAND is rich in culture and heritage and the Swazi people are very proud of their traditions and are very friendly and welcoming. Here you will have the opportunity of seeing the high quality local handicrafts of glass and candle making. Nestled in the EZUWINI VALLEY your next 2 nights will be at the stylish and very comfortable Royal Swazi Hotel & Spa *****.
Continuing into KWAZULU NATAL a stay of 1 night will be at Hluhluwe Hilltop Camp *** with further chances of excellent game viewing.
Your journey now continues to the area of the famous BATTLEFIELDS. You will stay at ISANDLWANA LODGE**** for 2 nights. The lodge is ideall situated so that you can enjoy views over the beautiful Isandlwana Plain and visit the legendary sites of RORKE'S DRIFT and ISANDLWANA.
From here in total contrast you will head for the coast and stay at the Beverley Hills Hotel***** for 3 nights. The hotel has views over the Indian Ocean and is just a few minutes walk from the centre of Umhlanga with a number of shops and restaurants. Whilst here you will have the opportunity to totally relax before you proceed to the peace and tranquillity of the CENTRAL DRAKENSBERG MOUNTAINS and 3 nights at the Drakensberg Sun****, before driving back to Johannesburg for your flight back to the UK.
