At the crossroads of three continents, the island of North Cyprus is bursting with intriguing antiquity, splendid cultural history and in springtime, amazingly rich flora. Wherever you travel you will see the influences of the great civilisations, from Neolithic to the Egyptian, Persian, Roman, Ottoman and British Empires, all in an enchanting setting of beautiful bays, beaches, some of which are home to turtles, spectacular mountains topped with ancient castles and idyllic scenery.
If you would prefer to have an Independent holiday (1, or 2 weeks, or long-stay) at the Onar Hotel, we will be happy to arrange this for you. We can offer flexible travel dates throughout the year and we are happy to arrange flights from regional airports where this is possible.
North Cyprus has an excellent Mediterranean climate with good swimming, wonderful walking in the mountains and along the coast, interesting historical sites to visit and a variety of good inexpensive restaurants.
Onar Hotel is well positioned for drives up into the hills and along the coast for as far as the eye can see. The nearest sea swimming is about 15 minutes drive away. Kyrenia with its bustling harbour, ancient castle and many restaurants and shops is only five minutes drive away.
People love staying at Onar and many return each year to enjoy the privacy and the hotel's relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.
There is good swimming from many beaches along the North Cyprus coastline and going east is the famous TURTLE BEACH with miles of sand. Water sports are usually available in the summer (June-September) and there are sometimes boat trips from Kyrenia Harbour to bays along the coast.
OPTIONAL TOURS
Tours are available and can be booked and paid for through our Representative after your arrival. These include, SALAMIS & FAMAGUSTA; 5TH CENTURY BC PERSIAN PALACE AT VOUNI; SOLI; a barbecue lunch in the mountains and a visit to the capital, NICOSIA, with its mosques, covered bazaar, museums and winding streets.
CAR HIRE
You may like to hire a car whilst staying at the Onar Hotel and we will advise you when booking.To drive in North Cyprus you will need a Valid British Driving Licence.
REPRESENTATIVE
You will be met and transferred from the airport and our Representative will meet you at your hotel. She knows and loves the island and will advise you on the best places for swimming, walks, drives and tours.
