Wherever you travel you will see the influences of the great civilisations, from Neolithic to the Egyptian, Persian, Roman, Ottoman and British Empires, all in an enchanting setting of beautiful bays, beaches, some of which are home to turtles, spectacular mountains topped with ancient castles and idyllic scenery.
NOrth Cyprus has an excellent Mediterranean climate with good swimming, wonderful walking in the mountains and along the coast, interesting historical sites to visit and a variety of good inexpensive restaurants.
For those wanting one or two week independent holidays, NORTH CYPRUS is the ideal place to come. The Dome Hotel is situated right on the seafront in KYRENIA just a few minutes walk from the bustling harbour with its many restaurants and bars overlooking the water.This famous hotel has always been popular with the British and you will find a warm welcome from the helpful staff.
Kyrenia harbour entrance is dominated by KYRENIA CASTLE. Dating from the time of the Byzantines its massive defenses surround a complex mixture of buildings from centuries ago. The castle was subsequently enlarged and strengthened by the Lusignans and the Venetians and it is likely that there was a Roman fort on this site originally. The castle is now home to many historical artefacts.
There is good swimming from many beaches along the coast and going east is the famous TURTLE BEACH with miles of sand. Water sports are usually available in the summer (June-September) and there are sometimes boat trips from Kyrenia Harbour to bays along the coast.
OPTIONAL TOURS
Tours are available and can be booked and paid for through our Representative after your arrival. These include, SALAMIS & FAMAGUSTA; 5TH CENTURY BC PERSIAN PALACE AT VOUNI; SOLI; a barbecue lunch in the mountains and a visit to the capital, NICOSIA, with its mosques, covered bazaar, museums and winding streets.
CAR HIRE
You may like to hire a car whilst at the Dome Hotel and we will send you a Car Hire form with your Confirmation. You will need a full Valid British Driving Licence.
REPRESENTATIVE
You will be met at the airport and visited at your hotel by our Representative. She knows and loves the island and will advise you on the best places for swimming, walks, drives and tours.
