Paris has always been famous for its love of all things gastronomic and our unusual tour combines a series of culinary-themed walks with historic aspects of this most atmospheric of cities
Welcome drinks and dinner are included at the hotel on your first evening and the following day our tour commences with a visit to the famous market at Les Halles. For 800 years this glorious market was the hub of all food distribution in the city. Redeveloped in the 1960’s Les Halles retains its culinary links and now combines many shops and stalls. There are gardens and pedestrianised areas brought to life by street performers and artists.
Later in the day we have arranged a private Wine Tasting at ‘O' Chateau (with 7 wines to be savoured). What better way to unlock the secrets of French wine whilst relaxing and socialising. The tasting will be followed by dinner at a local restaurant.
A Gastronomic Lunch Tour on the following day includes a unique and innovative idea that takes you on a leisurely guided walk of the Parisian ‘islands’ with starter, main course and dessert taken at three separate restaurants, with scenic walks in between, allowing time to digest both the meal and the fascinating back streets of Paris! The menu is a surprise created by each chef according to his individual inspiration, although special dietary requirements can be met.
On your final day in Paris there is time to wander the back streets of the chic and historic St. Germain district, long time haunt of the artistic, intellectual, Bohemian society. This area is thronged with tiny specialist shops where a series of ‘tastings’ are included on this delightful walk (with the opportunity to purchase later an irresistible temptation!). Visits to an oil producer, fromagerie, patisserie, charcuterie and wine shop with the wares sampled at each. Time is allowed for personal shopping before heading back to Gare du Nord laden with tasty purchases.
A degree of mobility is required to get the most enjoyment from your visit to Paris, although all the walks are at a leisurely pace with time to linger and take in the sights of this lovely city. A coach will transfer you from your hotel to the start of each walk. (See itinerary for full details).
